WHAT IS THE UPPER NISQUALLY
VALLEY?
ASHFORD - The last town before you reach the Paradise/Longmire Entrance
to Mt. Rainier National Park! There are lots of vacation cabins and year
round homes in the area. Ashford is only an hour away from Interstate 5
and the Tacoma area. I live in Paradise Estates near
Ashford myself.
ELBE - The
little town next to Alder Lake with its "Steam Trains", its historic little
church, and only 15 minutes to the Park Entrance! Head
east from Elbe to Mt. Rainier or turn south to Mineral Lake, Morton
and the Mt. Saint Helens area.
MINERAL
LAKE - Mineral Lake is one of
the most popular lakes in Western Washington for trout fishing. Imagine
Mt. Rainier in the distance as you reel in a large Brown Trout, or one of
the tasty Rainbows. Mineral Lake is truely a gem.
EATONVILLE - Eatonville is
midway between the Puget Sound area and Mt. Rainier. Commuters are only a
half hour away from working in the Tacoma area, and yet Eatonville still
has that small town feeling. There are some gorgeous views of
Mt. Rainier from much of Eatonville.
MT.
RAINIER - Mt. Rainier is the jewel of
the lower 48 states. Close to three million people visit it each
year. The "Upper Nisqually" area is the most popular route
to and from Mt. Rainier National Park. Tacoma and
Interstate 5 are a little over an hour away from the National
Park, with Seattle being a little under two hours. The
"Park Junction Resort, Golf Course & Convention Center" project is
underway and located between Ashford and Elbe. A world class
mountaineering museum is also being planned in Ashford. The Pierce
County Parks system is currently looking at a 35 acre park in Ashford
with a "Community Cultural Center" being planned to hold over 400 people.
Yes, the Upper Nisqually Valley is changing, and I'm excited that I
can live and work here.
